Welcome to our website dedicated to the people of South Carolina!

The members of the executive council of the South Carolina Chapter of the American College of Physicians welcome you to this page and invite you to understand more about what we are doing to provide quality care and education for the internal medicine population in South Carolina.

Our mission is to provide extraordinary care by offering excellent educational resources to our physicians while fostering professionalism and empowering our young leaders and to advocate for our physicians and patients at the state and national level.

We want to preserve the integrity of the practice of internal medicine, elevate our practices to historic delivery of excellent medical care, and lead our state in patient advocacy, collaboration among specialties, and continuing medical education.

Our website for you serves two purposes:

  1. to inform you as to how to contact your legislators on important issues affecting your health and access to healthcare providers, and
  2. to provide relevant health related information.

As advocates for our patients, we are providing you with methods to contact your legislators on issues important to you and your health. Using the website and email links will provide you with access to the leaders that serve you in Columbia and Washington. It is vital to our legislators to hear from us, their constituents, in order to know how their decisions affect our daily lives. It is the only way our legislators can effectively govern, with direct input from us, the people of South Carolina.

Email is the fastest, most direct way to communicate as the postal system requires much greater care and attention since the ricin and anthrax threats in the recent past. Phone calls are also effective as the aides in each office are trained to attend to each phone call and relay that information to your legislator.

If you need help composing a letter, please let us know via a phone call or email to me.

Though the South Carolina Chapter of the American College of Physicians sends physicians every year to Washington to meet with national legislators on your behalf, we encourage your frequent contact with those legislators so you can tell them your own, personal stories. This will have a greater impact on them and educate them about what is happening to you and your health care everyday.

As far as resources for your health care, we have many available through the American College of Physicians: Patient Information

We hope that you will enjoy the SC Patient Web site and take advantage of the many resources available on the website.
