I believe that I could bring a strong informed voice (from more than 30 years of primary care experience) to the Board highlighting the needs of people who lack access to affordable care (as well as advocating for them). This 'voice' should help to lead to the articulation of meaningful ideas to address these issues as an organization.

My first experience with ACP came in the form of presenting a winning abstract in the intern year of my residency. From that point forward, I have received value in countless ways from preparation for practicing and becoming board certified (and recertified) using MKSAP, to joining hand with colleagues to advocate for our profession and our patients via ACP Leadership Day. The professional support, learning opportunities, career advice and lasting friendships I have been fortunate to receive via my involvement with the South Carolina Chapter have literally been a "life line", enabling me to remain encouraged, committed, and fulfilled in my career in medicine. I see serving as the SC ACP Governor as the most appropriate way to give back to this organization that has been so supportive of me along the way. I look forward to the opportunity to make a contribution to the SC Chapter's continued growth.
