Congratulations to the Rhode Island Chapter Governor, Kelly A. McGarry, MD, FACP. Our Governor started her four-year term as Governor in the Spring of 2019. As Governor, Dr. McGarry serves as the official representative of the College for the Rhode Island Chapter, providing a link between members at the local level and leadership at the national level. ACP Chapter Involvement and Leadership Activities: I have been a member of the ACP for nearly two decades and have been a member of the Rhode Island Chapter Executive Council since 2010. I have been an invited speaker and served as moderator at several regional ACP meetings.
ACP National Activities: Fellowship 2007; from 1999 through 2015, I was a speaker at the annual ACP meeting for a workshop on getting through the Match Process for medical students. I have also served as a mentor in the American College of Physicians Mentoring Program for medical students, physicians in training and early career physicians.
Other Appointments/Activities: I was a Board Member of the University Medicine Foundation, last serving in 2015. I served on the RI Hospital Executive Committee in 2015. I am an ongoing mentor for the Women in Medicine Mentor-Mentee Program at Alpert Medical School and a Collaborative Faculty Member for the Women’s Health in Emergency Care Fellowship. In 2015, I became the Co-Director for the Concentration in LGBTQ Health Care and Advocacy, Alpert Medical School at Brown University.
