Ohio Chapter
Congratulations to the Ohio Chapter Governor-Elect, Michael J. Tan, MD, FACP. Our new Governor-elect will do a year of training as a Governor-elect and then will start his four-year term as Governor in the Spring of 2015. As Governor, Dr. Tan will serve as the official representative of the College for the Ohio Chapter, providing a link between members at the local level and leadership at the national level. In the meantime, Dr. Tan will be working closely with Dr. Rouan (the current Governor) and College staff to learn about the College and his duties as Governor. Vision Statement
As your Chapter's Vice-President and Membership Chair, I have had the opportunity to work closely with your Governor to strengthen our membership, scientific program, chapter health, and ties with OSMA to better address the concerns of our internists. Our endeavors have resulted in presentations to national leadership recognizing our consistent success. On the National Membership Committee, I have been able to represent our Chapter in the College's membership management efforts including promoting College diversity.
As your Governor, I will augment our Chapter's continued emphasis on education, professionalism, and policy. Changes in healthcare delivery will require our Chapter leadership to advocate for our Internists' interests. Changing licensure and maintenance requirements affect internists and subspecialists of all generations, and the College's role in education and representation will be more important than ever. The culture of healthcare is changing; our internists need ACP to be their voice, support, and source of knowledge.
