(May 2021) Dr. Barrett was officially recognized with ACP Mastership during the 2021 Internal Medicine Meeting. Masterships are awarded because of “personal character, positions of honor, contributions towards furthering the purposes of the ACP, eminence in practice or in medical research, or other attainments in science or in the art of medicine.” Dr. Barrett is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Continuing Medical Education at the University of New Mexico. She served as a Regents and as Governor of the ACP New Mexico Chapter. Her professional interests and expertise are in hospital medicine, disaster and pandemic response, clinician wellbeing, improving the care of people with substance use disorders, and in increasing diversity and inclusion in the physician workforce.
(May 2021) Our NM Governor, Dr. Heather Brislen was awarded the 2020 The Richard Neubauer Advocate for Internal Medicine Award at Leadership Day in May. The Award recognizes the Advocate member who has made exceptional contributions to advance the College's public policy agenda. Congratulations! Read more here.

(Spring 2021) Amanda Collar, an MD/PhD student who serves as our intrepid and amazing HPPC chair, has been appointed to the national ACP Council of Student Members as Vice-Chair. Congratulations, Amanda!
