Nuts & Bolts Workshop 2020
The MD ACP CRAB recently sponsored the Nuts & Bolts Workshop for abstract and poster presentations. Almost 50 students and residents attended the workshop to assist them with presentations for the upcoming Williams Student Conference and the Mulholland-Mohler Residents meeting. Dr. Luigi Ferrucci, Scientific Director at the National Institutes on Aging, gave a very interesting and thought-provoking presentation on how to make your poster not only eye catching but something that draws the attendee in to view your "special poster." He not only gave everyone a step-by-step outline to assist with developing your abstract and poster, but also ways to make the project a little less burdensome. Dr. April Fitzgerald, Co-Chair of our Women in Medicine, then presented the WIM video developed by our local group on "Making Progress - 10 Mistakes to Avoid" when making presentations.
The evening ended with Drs. Richard Williams, R. Dobbin Chow, Dave Weisman and April Fitzgerald reviewing posters from past meetings. They provided the group with a hands-on discussion of the characteristics that make good and bad posters.
Thanks to everyone who attended but special thanks to all of our faculty who took time out of their very busy schedules to give students and residents this opportunity.
