I wanted to share with you the highlights of the Student Steps to Success meeting held on Saturday, March 4th. We had over 130 registered for this all day student event!
Many hours go into making this happen for our students, and I just wanted to take this opportunity to send our thanks to our CRAB members Drs. Afua Ntem-Mensah, Pooja Srikanth, and Ahmed Salem, who took time from their weekend to assist with the Student Dilemma and other aspects of this meeting. Thanks also to Drs. Richard Williams and Terry Kus, who act as our Harbor coordinators and make sure that each event runs perfectly. Thanks to our presenters and judges for the abstract competition: Drs. William Shimeall, Vijay Rajput, Devang Patel, Phil Dittmar, April Fitzgerald, Manoj Maddali (Student Match), Mary Andrews (Armed Forces Match) Brent Petty (EKG review), Robert Marcus, Tomas Ayala, Kelly Haynie, Daniel Smith, Kevin Reed (SIMS coordinators), and Jeff Gray and Allison Lane (Iron Med competition). Of course, special thanks goes to Dr. Janaki Deepak, who not only presented a radiology review for our students, but also developed and implemented a Student Dilemma for 9 student teams this year.
I can only say that the day was amazing, and we could not do this without the assistance of everyone. We thank our student programs who also made sure that we had abstract submissions and dilemma teams for the competition - the most teams we have had that included: UMMS, UMMC, Hopkins, Armed Forces, MedStar Harbor, MedStar FS/GS/UM and St. Agnes.
See below a recap of the winners from this year's event. Some pictures are attached for your review, and we plan to have more on the chapter website within the next week.
