Medical Education Resources Initiative for Teens (MERIT)

The Medical Education Resources Initiative for Teens (MERIT) is a non-profit volunteer organization in Baltimore, Maryland which aims to eliminate health care disparities by transforming Baltimore City high school students into health care leaders through seven years of academic, professional, and social support. Beyond SAT prep, college admissions guidance, and summer internships, MERIT creates a holistic support system to change the trajectory of Scholars' lives. The program has been effective; last year, 100% of seniors matriculated into four-year universities and juniors improved their SAT scores by almost 6 times the national average. To learn more, read the Op-Ed published in the Baltimore Sun, listen to MERIT's Founder interviewed on WYPR, or visit our website.

MERIT is currently recruiting health care professionals to serve as summer preceptors. Time commitment is one three-hour shadowing session, once per week, for five weeks (June 29- July 31). Preceptors must be in locations easily accessible via Baltimore public transportation. If interested, email
