Meet the new Maine Governor-elect
Congratulations to the Maine Chapter Governor-elect (GE), Stephen R. Hayes, MD, MACP. Our new GE will complete a year of training as a Governor-elect and then will start his four-year term as Governor in the Spring of 2022. As Governor, Dr. Hayes will serve as the official representative of the College for the Maine Chapter, providing a link between members at the local level and leadership at the national level. In the meantime, Dr. Hayes will be working closely with Dr. Hemphill (the current governor) and College staff to learn about the College and his duties as Governor. Areas of Professional Interest and Expertise: I am interested in preventive medicine and vaccine practices and policies. I am involved in the clinical education of residents and medical students, and have been active in the Introduction to Clinical Reasoning Course for Tufts University 2nd year medical students. I am interested in the application of the humanities to medical education and practice and have been involved in the Literature and Medicine and Art and Medicine Programs at Maine Medical Center.
