CANDIDATE STATEMENT: As a resident I became involved in the American College of Physicians because of the excellent educational opportunities. Not until I was asked to join the committee to plan the Northern Illinois Chapter meeting in 2006 did I begin to understand the breath of benefits available to ACP members. That awareness has grown over the past five years as our recent Governors have promoted these services and as I have been allowed to become more deeply involved with the ACP. Areas in which I have developed some measure of expertise which I could contribute to members and the ACP include quality and safety, accreditation and regulation, and medical education. If elected Governor of the Northern Illinois Chapter of the ACP, I would continue to ensure members learn about current services, work toward developing new projects to benefit members, and represent Illinois members within the community of medicine.
