Through experience with Christiana Care Quality Partners and the eBrightHealth ACO, I have worked closely with payors and providers to create the context for change to value-based care. I maintain a firm conviction that physicians are critical to the transformation from volume to value and, with more than a decade of engaging our Congressional delegation with ACP, I recognize the importance of advocacy in achieving a high-value health care system. Finally, as a lifelong Delawarean, I believe that we have a unique opportunity to improve health care in our state, and I will ensure that the national conversation reflects the issues and values that are important to physicians in Delaware.

Candidate Statement:
As a practicing hospitalist for twelve years at a Tertiary Level Center, I have had the opportunity to engage my primary care colleagues, specialist colleagues and residents. My work with the Medical Society of Delaware's and ACP Young Physicians Delaware Chapter has allowed me to gain experience and knowledge when it comes to health care related issues. Medicine is at a crossroads and physicians are busy. Because we’ve been busy, we’ve often been letting others make the healthcare policy decisions. Decisions that frequently keep us from doing what we’ve been trained to do and love: medicine. Internists are the spine of any successful healthcare system. I’ve learned through my advocacy work on expanding critical access to primary care that if we collectively commit just a little time each, that together we can make impactful change. As Governor, I will empower us individually and collectively to put internists and physicians back at the forefront of the Delaware and National policy process, engage early career physicians and get members to pursue fellowship.
