AREAS OF PROFESSIONAL INTEREST/EXPERTISE: Although
I am not primarily practicing in academic medicine at this time, I
remain interested in internal medicine education. How internal
medicine is presented and taught to trainees impacts the future of
our own healthcare and our careers. I am particularly interested in
how we make our practices patient-centered and evidence-based, and
both enjoyable and sustainable.
Vision Statement
I am honored to be the Governor position. As I have been involved in many roles over the years, I have learned the benefits of actively participating in the ACP. I look forward to continuing to support the College's efforts:
- Advocacy - It is crucially important that we internists are included in discussions about how the practice of medicine is being redefined. The ACP supports many of the ideals that I believe will lead to high quality, evidence-based, affordable care.
- Education - ACP has always been the premiere educational source. High quality publications and meetings (such as Colorado's truly excellent Chapter meeting) should continue, and the College should continue to develop innovate electronic options.
- Networking -I feel strongly that we need to continue to support networking and mentoring opportunities especially for young physicians. I have met so many exceptional internists through the ACP. These relationships are invaluable.
