From the desk of the Governor

I am very happy to connect with you through this newsletter for the first time in year of 2020 not in usual mood.

I know all of you are actively involved in the battle against COVID-19. Kindly continue your good work and contact us update your various activities at your place. We had planned for two ACP India Chapter Mid-Term Conferences one at Guwahati another at Chennai have to be cancelled because of COVID-19.

Every year American College of Physicians conducts Doctor's Dilemma Competition for Residents during the ACP Internal Medicine Congress at USA. Many countries used to participate in the international competition. Every country sends one team (Three Contestants, One Reserve and a Trainer).

For the first time this year, the American College of Physician's India chapter was planning to take part in the 2020 Doctor's Dilemma Competition in Los Angeles. The ACP India chapter conducted selection of best candidates for this programme in all the zones (North, East, West, South & Central). The final of All-India Doctors Dilemma Competition was conducted on December 22, 2019 at Chennai, involving all the zone winners. We had selected one team (Three Contestants, One Reserve and a Trainer).

We had arranged for them American Visa, Flight Tickets and hotel accommodation for the TEAM INDIA. ACP India Chapter had spent nearly Rupees twelve lakhs. More than the money our dream, enthusiasm of participating for the first time as TEAM INDIA at the international competition was totally smashed by the COVID-19. All our active members who were involved in selecting and training candidates from various medical colleges across the country for the last six months were highly disappointed and dejected. Personally I was the one really most disappointed and depressed as I had lot of plans, imagination, ambition and dreams. Anyway our task now is to protect the community, protect our members from this COVID-19.

COVID-19 has spoilt many of our programmes but cannot spoil our hope and positive energy. Let us fight the battle more vigorously and help the world to clear the menace of COVID-19
