Evergreen Awards to honor Chapters that created new programs that
strengthened the chapter and increased member communication and
The Venezuela Chapter received the 2007 Evergreen Award
for their Membership Recruitment Initiatives. Here is a
brief description of the chapters' effort.
In an effort to expand the Chapter's previous 2006 Evergreen
submission on their aggressive membership recruitment plan, the
Venezuela Chapter executed various personalized strategies to
recruit and retain members. Activities included organizing
scientific lectures, sponsoring educational activities to the
postgraduate students in the six area hospitals, and making
personal contacts with internists and subspecialists at these
locations and others in private clinics. In addition, Chapter
Council members followed-up with eligible members to encourage
advancement to Fellowship and assist them with sponsoring letters.
The Chapter has managed to increase the number of members and
Fellows by 15% and increase their number of students by almost 5%
in the last year.
