Congratulations to the New Mexican Chapter Governor, Guillermo José Ruiz Argüelles, MD, MACP. His term as Governor began on May 7, 2016 with term expiring in April 2020. As Governor, Dr. Ruiz will serve as the official representative of the College for the Mexican Chapter, providing a link between members at the local level and leadership at the national level. POST DOCTORAL TRAINING: Fogarty Foundation post-doctoral research fellow in Hematology in the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester MN, USA (1983).
CERTIFICATION: Mexican Board of Internal Medicine (to 2020) and Mexican Board of Hematology (to 2020)
PRESENT POSITION: Director General, Centro de Hematología y Medicina Interna. Under director of Research, Laboratorios Clínicos de Puebla. Professor in Hematology, Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla. Professor in Hematology, Universidad de las Américas Puebla.
ACP CHAPTER INVOLVEMENT/LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES: Member of the Academia Nacional de Medicina de México - National Academy of Medicine - , of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores - National Research System, level III (highest) - , of the Academia Mexicana de Ciencias - National Academy of Sciences - and of the Comisión de Investigación en Salud de México - Mexican Health Research Committee - . Elected Mayo Clinic Distinguished Alumnus in 2011.
