The ACP Chile Chapter is proud to nominate Dr. Enrique López-Caffarena, MD MACP. He became involved with the ACP when he was President of the Santiago Medical Society. As such, he began by co-directing the Annual Courses that the ACP and the Santiago Medical Society had been giving since 1968. There he became acquainted with ACP Officers and developed with them the idea of establishing an Affiliate Region of the ACP in Chile. Thanks to the work of Dr. López-Caffarena Chile was the first one to meet the requirements and the first Affiliate Region in South America was created in Chile by the BOR in 1983. After a trial period of 3 years in which he played an indefatigable work recruiting members and organizing the Region Chile was made a Full Region and then a Chapter of the ACP. This history owes he's work the initial steps that made it possible.
