Web-based Quality Improvement Program

Join, Participate, And Improve Your Practice!

What is ACPNetSM?

ACPNetSM is the American College of Physicians’ web-based quality improvement program for internists.

The main goals of ACPNetSM are:

  1. To teach clinical quality improvement tools and techniques;
  2. To educate office-based physicians on evidence-based “best practices”;
  3. To help clinicians to analyze their practice patterns;
  4. To effectively improve clinical practice; and
  5. To improve patient management.
How do we do it?

ACPNetSM has been involved in numerous quality improvement and research projects since its inception in 1997. Our quality improvement projects can be grouped into three categories:

  1. Learn and change physicians’ attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors related to diagnosis and management of various diseases. We develop a web-based educational intervention to educate physicians and this tool kit is utilized as a web-based educational intervention to change physicians’ attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors.
  2. Learn about physicians’ practice patterns by collecting clinical outcomes data from their patients. We develop a diagnosis, evaluation, and management tool kit that will be of value to primary care physicians and this tool kit is utilized as a web-based educational intervention to educate physicians and help change their practice patterns.
  3. Team-based approach.

To improve the effectiveness of the intervention, we provide coaching through conference calls and email exchanges.

CME and Maintenance of Certification (MOC)

Physicians participating in many of our projects receive practice-based CME credit for the time spent implementing this program in their practices and participating in conference call sessions. As an added incentive for those physicians who need to recertify, we apply to ABIM for credit towards Part 4 MOC for certain ACPNetSM projects.
