Management Educational Resources for Internists

Many internists feel they lack proper training in the business aspects of medicine. Some want to go back to school for a degree such as an MBA. Others are unable to commit so much time and prefer to acquire knowledge in smaller increments. This resource list is provided for members looking to expand their knowledge of practice management.

AAMC list - The Association of American Medical Colleges has put together a list of medical management certificate and MBA programs for physicians. This list is by no means comprehensive, nor does the exclusion of a program mean that it is not any good, but it does include programs located in every region of the country. While neither the AAMC nor the ACP endorses these programs, the list provides information about the various programs as a service to physicians looking into this area of professional development.

In addition to the major university programs listed here, ACP members interested in professional management training should investigate programs offered at schools near where they live or work, since these may be more convenient and thus more feasible for a practicing physician to attend.
