Lab Proficiency Testing (PT) Program
Improving Quality Patient Care Through Accurate Diagnostic Testing

Global Network
As a service of the American College of Physicians (ACP)---a physicians' professional society with 132,000 members worldwide---the U.S.-based Medical Laboratory Evaluation (MLE) program provides a Proficiency Testing (PT) service for those who perform diagnostic testing where blood and bodily fluids are drawn. Our clients include a wide array of public and private clinical laboratories in over 25 countries and we continue to explore opportunities around the world.
This external form of multilaboratory comparison makes a cost-effective and safe mechanism for checking performance. MLE provides three lab proficiency testing events over the course of the year to challenge the laboratory's assays and unknown samples. The samples provided contain analyte levels that range from normal to abnormal.
Experience the Difference
MLE goes beyond the mere “number crunching” of lab evaluation and proficiency testing data to educating, informing, and working with our participants to improve the quality and safety of patient care.
