ACP Abstract Competitions

The College sponsors local and national abstract competitions for Associate and Medical Student Members. Winning entries in both the National Clinical Vignette and National Research Paper competitions are featured each year at the annual scientific meeting, Internal Medicine.

For information on local abstract competitions, visit your Chapter Web site, or contact your ACP Governor.

Information for Medical Students
  • More information about the Medical Student Abstract Competition, including a Guide to Preparing for the Abstract Competition, submission procedures and eligibility requirements can be located online.
    Information for Chapter Winners

Please contact your local ACP Chapter for information about attending the meeting such as your registration fee and your travel arrangements. The National ACP does not offer funding for medical students or residents presenting posters on behalf of their chapter.

If you have questions at any time throughout the process, please send us an e-mail.

    Information for Judges

The success of ACP's Abstract Competitions is directly linked to the involvement of ACP volunteers. Hundreds of members volunteered their time during the 2009 Associate and Medical Student Member competitions. With the expected increase in abstract submissions next year, we will need even more Associates, Members, Fellows and Masters to volunteer.

There are two ways you can help during the 2010 Abstract Competitions.

    • Review abstracts before Internal Medicine 2010. Each reviewer will be e-mailed approximately 35 abstracts in mid-December and have 4-6 weeks to review them.
    • Judge posters during Internal Medicine 2010. Participate in a team of judges to review Associate or Medical Student displays at the meeting.

If you are interested in volunteering to help with the 2010 Abstract Competitions, please send an e-mail to ACP Membership Development indicating how you would like to help.
