American College of Physicians Wins Innovative Solution Award for Datacap Taskmaster

Recognizes Unique E-Forms And Scanning Solution

November 5, 2004, Tarrytown, NY -- Datacap announced today that American College of Physicians (ACP) has received a 2004 Innovative Solution Award for its Taskmaster implementation, which combines imaging-based data capture and web-based data entry for medical laboratory testing.

ACP's Medical Laboratory Evaluation (MLE) division helps nearly 3,000 medical labs remain certified by the Center for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) through rigorous testing of lab physicians. Since 1996, Datacap Taskmaster has helped MLE automate the processing of paper-based test results quickly and accurately. In the first quarter of 2004, MLE added web-based data entry, developed in Taskmaster and integrated with the scanning-based capture solution, which enables physicians to submit test data on-line. MLE's new Web Data Entry System (WDES) helps meet customer demand, accelerate processing, and maintain a high degree of accuracy, without adding administrative complexities.

Constance Laubenthal, ACP's Director of Medical Laboratory Evaluation, oversaw the implementation and is gratified by the recognition. "Datacap and ACP work very well together to make this solution a reality and we're delighted the industry has confirmed our vision," she said. "We already knew we had a winner, because our customers have responded very favorably."

Created in 1996 to honor superior applications for their business effectiveness, and co-sponsored by IMERGE Consulting, the Process Innovation Award program presents six Innovative Solution Awards to organizations that have implemented applications that are returning significant business benefit.

Winners are selected based on process improvements that lead to gains in at least one of the following areas: productivity, profitability, ability to adapt to market conditions, or competitive standing/market share.

Judging was performed by an independent panel of industry analysts, including: Michael Bragen of Software Productivity Research LLC; Tom Elliott of Strategy Analytics; Jon Pyke of The Process Factory Ltd.; Don Post and Arthur Gingrande of IMERGE Consulting; and John Parker of Kinetic Information LLC.
