2009-2010 Council of Associates Call for Nominations

If you are active in your local chapter, get involved nationally by joining the ACP Council of Associates (COA). The COA is responsible for planning programs for the annual meeting for residents and fellows-in-training and providing a physician in training perspective on current issues impacting the field of internal medicine.

To be eligible you must currently be:

  • An ACP Associate member in good standing

To be an effective council member you must commit to:

  • Serving a 2-year term beginning at the College’s Annual Business Meeting (April 25, 2009)

  • Traveling to Philadelphia twice a year for council meetings. Meeting dates for 2008 – 2009 are June 1 and October 19, 2009.

  • Serving as the Associate representative on one of the Colleges permanent committees during his or her term. Serving on a committee will require at least one additional trip to Philadelphia.

2009 – 2010 Open Seats: If you currently reside in one of the states listed below, are training in a Canadian or Uniformed Services residency program, consider running for an open seat in that region.

  • North Eastern: DC, DE, MD, CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VA, VT, WV
  • Southern: AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, OK, NC, SC, TN, TX, PR
  • Western: AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY
  • Canadian: Canadian residency programs
  • Uniformed Services: Army, Navy, Air Force Chapters

How to Apply:

  • Submit a letter of intent, one letter of recommendation, and an updated CV.

  • Review the sample nomination and intent letters, as well as the Mission & Goals of the Council of Associates at www.acponline.org/coa.

Materials should be received no later than 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2008. The Council will conduct elections via conference call in mid-January and candidates will be notified of the results by early February.
