The American College of Physicians Guideline Grading System was adopted from the classification developed by the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) workgroup. Items with a high, moderate or low quality of evidence grade have a strong recommendation showing that benefits clearly outweigh risks and burden or risks and burden clearly outweigh benefits, but have a weak recommendation showing benefits that are finely balanced with risks and burden. There is insufficient evidence to determine net benefits or risks.
