Instructions for Convocation 2013
For Honorary Fellows and Special Representatives
Convocation is a ceremony that recognizes outstanding contributors to internal medicine, held yearly at ACP's annual meeting. New Fellows are inducted, visiting dignitaries ("Special Representatives") from internal medicine associations abroad are introduced, and new Masterships, Honorary Fellowships, and awards are presented. You have already received an invitation to participate in Convcation. If you have RSVP'd, you will receive final confirmation via email approximately one month before the Convocation Ceremony.
Before the ceremony, please come for regalia pick-up to the Stage Party Regalia Area, in Hall D of the Moscone Convention Center. The Stage Party Regalia Area is in the left rear of Hall J.
Please be in the Stage Party Regalia Area by 3:45 p.m. to pick up and put on your regalia. Between 4:20 and about 4:40 p.m., you will be asked to sit for photographs with the College's President and Chair of the Board of Regents. The photographer will be located near the regalia area. There is no charge for the photos and they will be mailed to you following the ceremony.

Assembly and Line-Up
At 5:30 p.m., the entire Stage Party will assemble for line-up in the Stage Party Assembly Area. The line of march will move into position at 5:50 p.m., and the formal procession will begin at 6:00 p.m. Please be prepared for a long wait. Because of the number of new Fellows and the size of the Stage Party, assembly and line-up will be time-consuming, and the procession will last around 20 minutes.
During the Ceremony
The Chair of the Awards Committee will announce the name of each Honorary Fellow, who will proceed to the front of the stage to receive their certificate, then return to their seat. The Chair of the Awards Committee will also announce the name of each Special Representative, who will stand to be recognized and then retake their seat. A copy of the Instructions to the Stage Party and the Convocation Program will be placed on each seat on the stage prior to the ceremony. Please be sure to turn off all electronic devices.
Please note that no reserved seating tickets are necessary for guests, as all guest seating in Hall D is open. There will be ample seating available. However, guests should arrive early to ensure good seats and should be seated before 5:50 p.m., as no one will be seated during the processional.
Questions about Dinner Arrangements
