*As a special consideration, dues are waived for new members who are elected in April, May and June, providing that the new member pays his/her full dues amount for the next membership year.

ACP’s membership year runs from July to the following June of each year. Membership dues rates are pro-rated throughout the membership year. The dues you are charged as a new member will be contingent upon the month you join.
Special Note for New Members and Direct Fellows:
ACP new Members and Direct Fellows (New Fellows who were elected immediately to Fellowship status without advancing from Member status) are afforded an opportunity to join the College at a reduced dues rate that does not include a dues allocation for their local ACP chapter. Upon their first renewal, these new Members and Direct Fellows will be charged a rate that may include their local chapter dues allocation. Chapter dues rates vary by chapter; therefore, the dues rate that a new member will be charged at the first renewal will be dependent upon the chapter to which he/she belongs.
Special note for ACP Members who advanced directly from Associate membership:
Members elected directly from Associate membership to full Membership will continue to be charged the Associate rate ($99 for membership year 2008 – 2009) for dues. Upon their first renewal after transitioning to full Member status, these members will be charged the Associate rate plus the appropriate ACP chapter allocation for the chapter to which they belong. During these two years, these Members will continue to receive the same discounts for ACP programs, products and services that are available to Associate members.
For the following three renewal periods, they will continue to be charged an interim dues amount that will include the appropriate ACP chapter allocation for the chapter to which they belong. They will also receive the same discounts for ACP programs, products and services that are available to all full dues paying Members.
After the fifth year of full membership, these Members will be charged the appropriate dues rate based upon their year of graduation from medical school.
Special note for fellowship trainees:
ACP Members or Fellows who enter fellowship training may have their dues reduced to $99. Payment should be sent, along with a letter from their Program Director specifying specialty and institution, to the Customer Service Department.
Special note for disabled members or those experiencing significant financial hardship:
Physicians who are disabled or experiencing significant financial hardship and wish to apply for a dues adjustment may request a form from Customer Service.
Special note for retired or semi-retired members:
Physicians, who are at least 60 years old and retired, or working less than 20 hours each week in active practice or other remunerative positions, may send a letter requesting a dues waiver or reduction to Customer Service. These members, requesting a waiver of dues, do not receive the publications that are part of the usual benefits of membership. They do have the option of paying a special reduced dues rate in order to continue receiving the publications. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks to have these requests for reductions or waivers reviewed. You will receive notification of the disposition of your request. Dues adjustments must be requested for each fiscal year. Members over age 65 who are still in practice will be required to pay Chapter dues to maintain their membership in good standing.
Special note for member couples:
Member couples have the option of waiving one set of subscriptions and receiving a dues reduction. Dues are reduced for the member whose subscriptions are waived. Requests for couple's dues should be sent to Customer Service and should include the names of both members of the couple and should state which member's subscriptions should be waived. The person whose subscription is waived will be billed the appropriate rate. Members who take advantage of the College’s Couples national dues discount will each be billed the full amount of chapter dues.
