FCIM Curriculum Guide - Help

Frequently Asked Questions

I am getting the error, "The Macros in This Project Are Disabled." How do I fix this?

In order for all of the functionality to work correctly, you will need to enable macros, by performing the following actions:

1. If the FCIMGuide2.xls file is open, close it.

2. On the Tools menu, point to Macro and click Security.

3. In the Security dialog box, click the Security Level tab.

4. Click Medium and then click OK.

5. Open FCIMGuide2.xls. When prompted whether to enable or disable macros, click Enable Macros.

How do I customize this application?

The application was created to run within Microsoft Excel 2000, using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). If you wish to make changes to the spreadsheet, you may do so using whatever techniques you wish (after you "unprotect" each worksheet by selecting Tools, then Protection, then Unprotect Sheet... from within Excel). Be advised, however, that any changes made to the spreadsheet must be accounted for in the VBA programs, so if you are not an experienced VBA programmer, you will very likely cause existing functionality to malfunction.

What is Adobe Acrobat Reader and how do I use it?

The Adobe Acrobat Reader is freely distributed software which allows the user to view *.pdf documents. The so-called PDF documents (which all have a .pdf extension) are files which have been created in Adobe Acrobat and which are, consequently, standardized. To use the reader, simply download and install the software by following the instructions provided by Adobe which are located here.
