Government Employment Opportunities

The government provides employment to physicians through the military and other entities such as the public health service and Veterans Administration. In addition, the federal government has web sites that supply information about available jobs for civilians and can help you identify areas of critical physician shortage. For most government jobs, the compensation is generally good—vacation, call coverage, and benefits are guaranteed, and often these positions offer more personal time as compared to other practice opportunities.
