2008 Internal Medicine Acknowledgments

Congratulations to Thomas D. Dubose Jr., MD, FACP. He has been awarded Master of the College. He will be inducted at the convocation ceremony held in Washington, DC during the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting. To be considered for Mastership, the candidate must have made a notable contribution to medicine. This includes but is not limited to teaching, outstanding work in clinical medicine (research or practice), contributions to preventive medicine, improvements in the delivery health care, or contributions to medical literature.

We are honored to have seven Chapter Members represent our Chapter for the Associate and Medical Student Abstract Competition to be held during Internal Medicine.

  • David Y. Ming, MD from Duke University Medical Center was selected in the Clinical Vignette Category for the poster, An Atypical Cause Of Typical Chest Pain.
  • Soham D. Puvvada, MD from the University of North Carolina Hospitals was selected in the Clinical Vignette Category for the poster, Bronchiolitis Obliterans Organizing Pneumonia: Importance Of Correct Diagnosis And Treatment.
  • Samar Sheth, MD from the University of North Carolina was selected in the Clinical Vignette Category for the poster, Acute Renal Syndrome.
  • Aman Amin, MD from the Wake Forest University was selected in the Research Category for the poster, Inhaled Corticosteroids And Pneumonia.
  • Yogesh Bhusal, MD, PhD from the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital Program was selected in the Research Category for the poster, Virologic Effectiveness Of A Once Daily Single Tablet Combination Of Three Antiretrovirals (Starvs) Compared To Multi-Tablet Arvs (Mtarvs) For Hiv Therapy.
  • Ghassan Fraij, MD from the University of North Carolina Hospitals Program was selected in the Research Category for the poster, Relationship Of Left Ventricular Size To Long-Term Outcome Varies With Degree Of Clinical Heart Failure: Results From The Unc Heart Failure Database.
  • Matthew T Weed, MD from the East Carolina University Program was selected in the Research Category for the poster, Medicaid Patients With Colorectal Cancer Are Rarely Diagnosed By Screening Colonoscopy.
