Lipman, MD, MS, Associate Director, Montefiore-Einstein Center for Bioethics; Cynthia X. Pan, MD, FACP, AGSF, Chief, Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care, NYHQ. This symposium for physicians, nurses and interdisciplinary health care providers will present bioethical issues and cultural perspectives on patient, family and practitioner rights and responsibilities in medical decision making. To promote optimal quality care of patients living with a serious or life-threatening illness, in-depth presentations will review palliative care management options and choices with respect to ethical issues/dilemmas and cultural considerations, such as the meaning of life and death, pain and suffering, and quality vs. quantity of life. 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM.
