Free Patient Education Videos for Members
ACP is expanding its patient education resources for members. New educational videos and guidebooks about diabetes and cancer are now available free to ACP members (a small shipping and handling fee will be charged however). The 30-minute videos and companion guidebooks were developed to help raise awareness about diabetes among Hispanic-Americans and educate African-Americans about breast, prostate and lung cancer. Within the videos prominent Hispanic-Americans and African-Americans relate their personal or family experiences with diabetes and prostate, breast and lung cancers, describe the risk factors and symptoms of the diseases, and provide pointers on following a healthy lifestyle to help prevent or moderate the diseases.
ACP is providing the videos and guidebooks to its members and their patients for free as part of its national efforts to raise awareness about these diseases among minority populations. The videos can be played in office waiting rooms or given to patients to take home and review and share with family and friends. These new patient education resources were developed through education grants from Aventis and AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals.
