International Meetings Update
Association of Physicians of India & Indian College of Physicians Annual Meeting
January 29-31, 2009
The Annual Scientific Meeting of the Association of Physicians of India (API) was held January 29-31, 2009 in Greater Noida, India, outside of New Delhi. The Congress was attended by more than 3,000 physicians from all over India. Many young physicians were in attendance at the meeting.
Kesavan Kutty, MD, MACP and Angeline A. Lazarus, MD, FACP, served as ACP International Speakers at the meeting. Dr. Kutty spoke on "Daytime Hypersomnolence" and Dr. Lazarus spoke on "Idiopathic Interstital Pneumonias". The meeting was conducted in English. There were many Indian speakers at the meeting, along with a few from the USA and England. The guest speaker at the API inaugural reception was Dr. Abdul Kamal, former President of India, a scientist and a scholar.
ACP Central America Chapter Meeting
January 30-31, 2009
The ACP Central America Chapter held it's Annual Meeting January 30-31, 2009 in Panama City, Panama. The meeting was attended by a diverse audience of around 500.
Gary Falk, MD, FACP, served as the ACP International Speaker at the meeting. Dr. Falk gave an evidence based talk on GERD and Bartlett's esoplajur/esoplagecil CA. The meeting itself included activities for Associate members, including an animated Jeopardy game. The clinical content of the meeting included topics of interest to women physicians, along with women speakers.
Bangladesh Society of Internal Medicine Annual Meeting
February 7-8, 2009
The Bangladesh Society of Internal Medicine held it's Annual Meeting February 7-8, 2009 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Around 500 attendees were present at the meeting itself, and over 700 attended an event where the Minister for Health and the Cabinet Secretary for Health Services spoke.
Kesavan Kutty, MD, MACP was invited to be the ACP International Speaker at the meeting by Dr. Md. Billal Alam, Secretary General, Bangladesh Society of Internal Medicine and Prof. F.M. Siddiqui, MD, FACP, Chairman of International Affairs, Bangladesh Society of Medicine. Dr. Kutty gave a presentation entitled "State of the Art" in Pulmonary Diseases. He was also able to devote part of his presentation to ACP's programs, products, and services.
