Governor's Newsletter, Spring 2000
Harmon H. Davis, II, MD, FACP
Governor, Wyoming Chapter
Governor's Message
I have taken over the Governorship from Dan Klein, who served our Chapter well. He was chosen by Dr. Munsey Wheby, Chair of the Board of Governors, to speak at the BOG portion of the recently held Annual Session "On Being a Doctor: Would I Do It Again." Dan did an outstanding job.
Also at the meeting, the Board of Governors sent several resolutions to the Board of Regents dealing with a wide range of topics, such as using the MKSAP as a means to recertification, or directing the ACP-ASIM to formalize a strategic plan that enunciates the essential components of a health care delivery system that the College would advocate for the coming years. One resolution that did not pass resolved to change the name of the ACP-ASIM to ACIM or the American College of Internal Medicine.
I have formed an Advisory Council consisting of:
- Dan Klein, MD, FACP—Immediate Past Governor, Wyoming Chapter; Medical Student Liaison; Chair, Health and Public Policy.
- John Beckman, MD, FACP—Chair, Credentials; Website Manager.
- Eric Wedell, MD, FACP—Chair, Membership and Awards; Member, Credentials Committee.
- Robert Lanier, MD, FACP—Chair, 2000 Scientific Program; Chair, Community Based Teaching.
I would encourage any member interested in serving with the above Council members to contact me as noted at the end of this newsletter. I would also encourage any member interested in advancing to Fellowship to contact me—this year at the Annual Session Convocation, a 90-year-old physician was advanced to Fellowship.
I hope many of you will attend our Chapter Scientific Meeting, September 22-23, 2000. The following agenda, as well as meeting brochures will be mailed shortly.
