Member Accomplishments

New Master Awarded

Congratulations to Robert M. Strieter (Charlottesville), who has been awarded as a Master of the College. He will be inducted at the Convocation ceremony during the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting in April 2010. To be considered for Mastership, the candidate must have made a notable contribution to medicine. This includes but is not limited to teaching, outstanding work in clinical medicine (research or practice), contributions to preventive medicine, improvements in the delivery of health care, or contributions to medical literature.

National Awardee

This year's Alfred Stengel Memorial Aware for Service to the American College of Physicians will be presented to Munsey S. Wheby (Charlottesville). He will be presented with this award at the Convocation ceremony during the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting in April 2010. The award is bestowed upon a newly elected or previously elected Master of ACP, preferably one who has served as an Officer, Regent, or Governor and who has completed official service. The selection shall be based upon unusual loyalty and exceptional contributions to the aims and purposes of the College, as well as the recipient’s outstanding influence in maintaining and advancing the best standards of medical education, medical practice, and clinical research.
