ACP Honors Pennsylvania Chapter with a 2011 John Tooker Evergreen Award

At the 2011 Internal Medicine Meeting, ACP presented six John Tooker Evergreen Awards to honor Chapters that created new programs that strengthened the chapter and increased member communication and involvement.

The Pennsylvania Chapter received the 2011 John Tooker Evergreen Award for their program, "Recruiting Former ACP Members." Here is a brief description of the chapter's effort.

The Pennsylvania Chapter recruited twelve new members at the initial Pri-Med Access with ACP programs held in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. They observed among the new applicants: former ACP members appeared, as a group, to be more interested in returning to the ACP. Armed with this insight, the Pennsylvania Chapter recently redirected its focus to recruit at Pri-Med Access with ACP events among former members. Both the ACP and Pri-Med databases were used in identifying the former members who registered for the events in Pennsylvania. A series of welcoming emails was designed for monthly distribution to this group. The Chapter also offered a special gift for stopping by the exhibit table at each event. The Pennsylvania Chapter will be expanding this initiative in the future and looks forward to welcoming back additional former ACP members.
