Vision Statement

“As I reflect upon 30 years in medical practice as an internist/rheumatologist and an educator, I have come to place less hope in “grand plans” and more hope in the minute to minute efforts of people with a fundamental desire to use science and compassion to do good. We should not be distracted from two major goals: improving the health and quality of life of the population we serve and supporting a work environment that offers personal reward for physicians, by allowing them to effectively use and continuously develop their clinical skills and participate in “therapeutic” doctor-patient relationships. I would hope to use my experience as clinician, educator, and administrator to support the ACP in its mission of education and advocacy.”

I ran the regional Pennsylvania ACP Associates’ meeting 4 times and have acted as reviewer and judge many times. I am also an active member of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine. All of these experiences have helped me develop connections with many local internists, which would be helpful in the Governor’s role as liaison between membership and the Board of Regents. These experiences also have prepared me to provide insight into issues of patient care and medical education. I am an enthusiastic, organized and dedicated advocate for the patients, practice and practitioners of Internal Medicine.
