OMA CME Course on Pain Management
Deadline for obtaining CME: Jan. 2, 2009
In an effort to help physicians fulfill the state mandatory requirement of 6 hours of CME on pain management, the OMA is offering courses around the state (including several videoconferencing locations). Course dates and locations are as follows:
- September 25: Portland - OMA Headquarters
- October 1: Bend - The Riverhouse
- October 9: Medford - Smullin Health Education Center
- October 10: Eugene - Phoenix Inn Suites
- October 28-Portland - OMA Headquarters
The following cities will join the Portland location via video conference: Coos Bay, La Grande, and Roseburg

As a reminder, ALL licensees of the Oregon Medical Board, except lapsed, telemedicine and teleradiology licensees, MUST COMPLETE the following two-part mandatory continuing medical education in the subjects of pain management and/or the treatment of terminally ill and dying patients before Jan. 2, 2009:
- A one-hour pain management course specific to Oregon provided by the Pain Management Commission of the Department of Human Services (course available at http://whalespoken.org/DHS/pain/training.shtml); and
- A minimum of six CME credit hours in the subjects of pain management and/or the treatment of terminally ill and dying patients. Any combination of CME coursework focusing on pain management and/or treatment of terminally ill and dying patients may be used to fulfill this requirement.
