Program Description:

At the Medical College of Ohio, we know that knowledge is power. Especially when knowledge brings the power to heal. That's why these are exciting and challenging times in Internal Medicine as the explosion of research-generated advances are translated into tangible benefits for our patients. The internal medicine residency at the Medical College of Ohio is a comprehensive program centered in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Our program offers a balance of rigorous training supervised by a distinguished faculty. Our residents gain excellence in a fine university hospital and an excellent urban community hospital. Our patient mix is also quite broad, with a blend of referral and local patients.
The Medical College of Ohio offers the distinct advantages of being both medical school-based and relatively small in size. This enables us to provide trainees with an excellent education in an environment truly focused on their individual success. All of our endeavors are animated by education, and students at all levels are a part of resident encounters. Our research efforts vary widely - from clinical protocols to bench research into the basic mechanisms of disease. These commitments to education and creation of new knowledge add a much-needed dimension to our training program, and commits the faculty to convey rigorous scholarship to our residents. It also allows us to aim our teaching and direction toward the future, ensuring that our residents and patients receive the most current, up-to-date diagnosis and treatment. The graduates of our residency program move on to positions in primary care or in subspecialty training here and around the country.
