New Jersey Chapter Regions
In April 2003, at the request of the New Jersey Chapter and the Chapters Subcommittee, the Board of Regents approved the establishment of two separate ACP regions in New Jersey. The chapter had grown in the number of members and the Subcommittee saw a need to better serve the membership by creating smaller constituencies for each Governor to represent. The two regions are New Jersey Northern and New Jersey Southern.
Sara L. Wallach, MD, FACP, began her term in April 2004 as the Governor for the entire chapter and as of April 8, 2006 began representing the Southern region for the remaining two years of her term. Eileen Moser, MD, FACP, was recently elected Governor of the Northern Region. She took office as Governor of the Northern region on April 8, 2006 and her term will expire in 2010.
Although the New Jersey Chapter is now composed of 2 regions, in may ways it still functions as one with statewide activities and events serving the entire membership equally and at the same time.
The creation of 2 regions does allow for each Governor to play a larger role in the local medical communities and training programs, focusing on student and resident activities within each of their regions.
