Vision Statement
For me, the American College of Physicians has represented the organization promoting excellence in medical care. To this end the NJ Chapter has promoted Associate competitions and events that develop early relationship with our youngest members while supporting older members with CME programs and resources to improve their practices. I wish to continue this mission but also recognize that as our medical technology has advanced, our communication skills have lagged behind and in some cases deteriorated. One major way in which the local organization can help, is by improving networking between specialist and generalist, as well as, between internist and non-internal medicine organizations. We should be able to create a database for New Jersey ACP members with their preferred referral physicians and carry this forward to encourage internist and medical specialist to become new members.
As a longstanding member of the NJ ACP Council, I think I have a good sense of the role of the Governor and the directions we should promote taking our organization. As a relatively new patient, I now have a greater sense of urgency, that the current system is failing our public, and requires redirecting our energy to correct these problems.
