Request for Abstract Submissions
Resident and Student Poster Session
American College of Physicians
North Carolina Chapter
Annual Scientific Session
January 29-30, 2010 · Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club, Durham
Deadline for Abstract Submission: November 13, 2009
Electronic Abstract Submission Form
The North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Physicians invites internal medicine residents and students to submit posters detailing original resident basic research (clinical and/or laboratory research, delineating a new investigation into mechanisms of a disease, or a detailed review of a clinical problem), or clinical vignettes (one or more cases that illustrate a new disease entity or prominent or unusual clinical feature of an established disease). Accepted posters will be judged by a panel of internists on Friday, January 29. Residents and students should coordinate their participation with their Training Program Director and submit an abstract online no later than November 13, 2009.
Please note the following instructions:
- Abstract Eligibility: Original abstracts that either have or have not been presented at other meetings will be considered. They are eligible if they have been published; however, abstracts based upon full papers that have been published are not eligible.
- Author Eligibility: The first author of an abstract must be an ACP Associate Member in good standing. Co-authors need not be ACP members. Presenting author must list name first.
- Abstract Format: Title should be brief and clearly state content of paper. List name and degree for each author. Organize body of abstract as follows: (a) Purpose for study, (b) Simple statement of methods, (c) Summary of results, (d) Statement of conclusions.
We will do our best to accept as many posters as possible within time and space constraints. For those posters selected, for one presenter per poster, the chapter will cover one night’s lodging for those living outside the Triangle area. The best clinical research, best basic research, best clinical vignette, and best student poster will each receive a cash award of $300. The best overall poster will receive an additional award and reimbursement of travel expenses to the 2010 ACP Internal Medicine Meeting to present the winning poster.
If your abstract is selected for the poster session, you will be notified shortly after the submission deadline so that you will have time to prepare your poster. PLEASE NOTE, POSTERS MAY BE NO LARGER THAN 4' x 4' IN SIZE. Posters larger than 4' x 4' will not be accepted.
We hope residents and students will plan to attend the meeting, regardless of whether you will submit an abstract for the poster session. The registration fee, as always, is waived for all residents and students. The registration brochure will be available this fall.
