BAUCUS LAUNCHES HEALTH CARE LISTENING TOUR-
Senator To Gather Statewide Input For Reform

(Billings, Mont.) - Montana's senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus will kick off the first in a series of statewide listening sessions in Kalispell on Tuesday, October 14 to examine health care challenges facing Montanans as he works on reforming the health care system for the country.

As chairman of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, which has jurisdiction over health care financing, Baucus is leading the charge on health care reform in America.

Baucus will conduct health care listening sessions in several Montana communities, a tour that will include an official U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing in Missoula on Tuesday, October 21.

"It's wrong that 1 in 5 Montanans doesn't have health insurance. It's wrong that Montanans' health care bills continue to skyrocket while wages can't keep up," said Baucus, Montana's senior U.S. Senator. "That's why we need fundamental reform - we need a new approach to health care so more Montana families can get access to quality, affordable care. That's what this tour is all about. I need to hear from my employers - Montana families - on the best way to do this."

Baucus' listening sessions will be an open forum where Montanans can offer what health care concerns they have and how the health care system could work better for them. He'll take that input to Washington, D.C. as the Congress looks to reform the nation's health care system in 2009.

The listening sessions are free and open to the public.
