First prize in the Research, Clinical Vignette, and Patient Safety & Quality Improvement categories is a stipend and entry into the national Poster Competition at the ACP Internal Medicine 2010 week in Toronto, Canada. Second and Third Place prizes will be cash awards. See 2009 Missouri chapter winners.
Important dates:
- July 31 – Deadline to ACP for electronic submission by program of authors, category designation, and titles. The categories are Clinical Vignette (CV), Research (R), and Patient Safety & Quality Improvement (PtS&QI). Send Excel file to pmills@msma.org.
- July 31 – Deadline for authors (presenters) to apply for ACP membership. All participants must be ACP members.
- August 5 – Programs will be informed of revised allocation of numbers for competition – if any program does not use its maximum allocation.
- August 7 – Deadline for electronic submission by program of additional allocation, if any.
- August 21 – Programs will be notified of non-members whose posters are rejected.
- August 28 – Deadline for electronic abstract submission to ACP in PDF files not to exceed 1mg each. Clinical and PtS&QI 300 word max. Research 250 word max. Residents will need an attending as a co-author.
- September 18 – Deadline for ACP Awards Banquet tickets. These will not be available on site.
- September 18 – Abstracts sent out to Judges.
- September 25 – 5pm Competition at Tan Tar A
September 25, 2009 - Associate Poster contest
- Setup Anytime after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25
- Posters must be on display by 4:30 p.m. Friday, September 25
- Judging begins at 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 25
- Results announced and competition concludes by 7:30 p.m.
- Do not remove posters or leave the competition area before results are announced. Re-judging of posters may be necessary to break ties.
- Posters must be removed by 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26
- Board dimension 4ft. tall x 8 ft. wide
- Bring your own push pins for display of your poster

- Clinical Vignette posters limited to a 3 minute oral introduction by presenter
- Research limited to a 5 minute oral introduction by presenter
- Patient Safety & Quality Improvement Posters limited to a 5 minute oral introduction by presenter
- Total time should be approximately 12 minutes
