Vision Statement
Since I first attended the ACP annual meeting as a resident over twenty years ago, I have been an ardent supporter of the College. I value the ACP’s commitment to education and advocacy for us and our patients. Through the encouragement and influence of MN Chapter leaders, I have been given an opportunity to pursue numerous professional activities within the College, locally and nationally. This involvement has provided me with immense career and professional satisfaction. As your Governor, I would like to extend those same opportunities for involvement to you and other internists throughout Minnesota. We have an incredible pool of talent in this state. We also can be proud of our record of providing high quality, patient-centered care and medical education. As we each become more involved in our Chapter’s mission of advocacy and education, our organization will only be strengthened.

Vision Statement
To enter the specialty of Internal Medicine requires a knowledge base both broad and deep, and a curiosity that explores a myriad of differential diagnoses and treatment options. To stay in the specialty of Internal Medicine as a career requires finding the best fit for the physician, be it primary care, hospital service, subspecialties, research, education or administration; growing into a deepening understanding of the relationship with the patient, whether met for the first time in the emergency department or followed over decades; finding a viable financial reimbursement model; working a sustainable schedule while balancing family and personal life; and continuing lifelong learning and not losing sight of the intellectual excitement that drew us into Internal Medicine in the beginning. The ACP offers a nexus of education, collegiality and patient advocacy that is unique in uniting internists for the betterment of their individual career, their profession and their patients.
