The Michigan Chapter is pleased to welcome our new Members since December, 2007.

Fellowship is an honor achieved by those recognized by their peers for personal integrity, superior competence in internal medicine, professional accomplishment, and demonstrated scholarship.

We are happy to announce that Mahalakshmi Halasyamani has been assigned to the National Clinical Efficacy Assessment Subommittee, Peter A. Ubel has been assigned to the National Ethics and Human Rights Committee and Michael H. Zaroukian has been assigned to the National Medical Informatics Subcommittee.

The Laureate Award honors those Fellows of the American College of Physicians in the Michigan Chapter who have demonstrated by their example and conduct an abiding commitment to excellence in medical care, education or research, and service to the community and the American College of Physicians. This award is the most prestigious honor bestowed to a chapter member at the local level.

It is with distinct pleasure that the Michigan Chapter honors Leslie L. Rocher, MD, FACP, and Eric J. Scher, MD, FACP with its 2007 Chapter Laureate Award. They are long-standing and loyal supporters of the College, have rendered distinguished service to the chapter and the community, and have upheld the high ideals and professional standards for which the American College of Physicians is known.

The Michigan Chapter is also pleased to recognize Sean K. Kesterson, MD, Surenda Marur, MD, MPH, and Rajika L. Munasinghe, MBBS, FACP with this year's Governor's Award and David M. McCance, DO, FACP with its Volunteerism and Community Service Award.
