Maryland Chapter Young Physicians Resources

The Maryland ACP Council of Young Physicians, chaired by Dr. Sapna Kuehl, was formed in 2006. The group discussed ways to meet the needs of those physicians who were seeking employment, or going into practice in our area. Additionally, the Council felt this information might also be useful to those who were going into subspecialty fellowships. The Council's goal was to provide practical information to "jump start" the next phase of a young physician's career.

For additional information about the Council, please be sure to contact our Committee chair, Dr. Sapna Kuehl at skuehl@stagnes.org.

Some items found within the locally-developed Young Physician resource packet are the following:

  • Phone Numbers and addresses in Maryland of hospitals, department of medicine chairmen, residency program directors and directors of hospitalists programs
  • Issues to consider while looking for a job
  • Job Application timeline
  • Info on reviewing employment contracts

Don't forget to check out the resources provided by the national ACP, which can be found on our chapter's Web site on the Young Physicians Resources page. A few things you can find there include:

  • Young Physician Practice Management Survival Handbook
  • Pocket Guide to Preventive Services for Adults
  • Practice Management DVD
  • E&M coding card
  • ICD 9 CM coding card
