Vision Statement
Being raised in Kentucky and practicing general internal medicine has helped me know and understand the issues facing Kentucky’s physicians and our patients. Kentucky faces critical shortfalls including those in access to care, health literacy amongst patients, retention of physicians after training, educational and collegial opportunities for physicians, and information technology and also faces other challenges which threaten the future of medicine. Through my involvement on national committees, in the merger of chapters and the national organizations of the ACP and ASIM and my years working with other leaders as a member of the Kentucky Governor’s council I have experienced firsthand ACP’s unique effectiveness in addressing such issues. ACP provides a forum for generalists and specialists from diverse backgrounds to convene, build consensus and affect constructive change. Fostering such communication, meaningful results, and the growth of KY-ACP are my highest priorities as Governor.
