ACP Honors Japan Chapter with an Evergreen Award

At this year's Internal Medicine Meeting, ACP presented fifteen Evergreen Awards to honor Chapters that created new programs that strengthened the chapter and increased member communication and involvement.

The Japan Chapter received the 2007 Evergreen Award for their Translation of Observer Weekly. Here is a brief description of the chapters' effort.

In an effort to enrich the content available on the Japan Chapter Web site and provide internal medicine news in their native language, the Japan Chapter established a Publication Committee to translate the blurbs of ObserverWeekly. Every week, four members of the Publication Committee organize the translation: three members translate, and one person serves as editor. ObserverWeekly is distributed via e-mail in Japanese to the members every Monday (the following week) and it is also posted on their Web site. The Japanese translations are linked to the English original articles which are posted on the College Web site. Since this translation project began, the Chapter's web hits have increased over 75%.
