Just Say Grow - A Tree Planting Event

The 2001 "Just Say Grow" event this past April was a great success! More than 70 trees were planted to improve the beauty and environment of Indianapolis.

The tree planting event was planned and sponsored by the Eastside Community Investments and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, non-profit organizations devoted to the community redevelopment of Indianapolis. Your Indiana Associates Council helped organized a contingent of eight medical student, residents and fellows. Collectively, we contributed to the planting of approximately 20% of the trees. Not bad for a half-day's work!

Your Indiana Associates Council believes that physician volunteerism is another means by which we can return the benefits of our training and opportunities back to the community. We all co-exist in the larger framework of society, and it is important that we contribute meaningfully to our communities' health and quality of life.

Tree planting is certainly a community affair. We're learning how to plant the tree (and keep it straight), and how to recycle burlap
