Vision Statement
The world today presents many challenges as we attempt to define our roles as internists and not be “left in the dust” as physician roles evolve and change. With health care reform on the horizon and the increasing fragmentation of medical specialization, we must continue efforts to re-define ourselves as internists—highly educated individuals who should be at the forefront of medical leadership. As technology continues to make its inroads into clinical practice, we must embrace it and utilize it to provide the best quality measures for tomorrow. As a lifelong educator who is heavily involved in medical education, my major goal is to facilitate the development of internists as the leaders of tomorrow—scholars who are well trained in clinical medicine, business of medicine, credentialing, and quality management. The passion for such knowledge must be kindled early on and continue through the internist’s career.
