Indiana Chapter Meeting - Nov 13-14 (Fri-Sat)
Three weeks until the ACP Chapter Meeting! Remember, no registration fee if you pre-register. The Chapter Meeting is a great venue for CME (12.5 credits), catch up with colleagues, and earn some SEP module points toward recertification.
For more information and to register, go to http://cme.medicine.iu.edu/iucme/carteBlanche/scripts/prodView.asp?id=35114
Keep in mind the Adams Mark Hotel has been renamed the Wyndham Indianapolis West. Discounted hotel rooms are still available, just refer to the ACP block of rooms. To get to the hotel, from I-465, take the Sam Jones Expressway (formerly Airport Expressway) to Executive Drive.
Additionally, there will be a dinner symposium offered Friday night.
Senate Bill 1776 - Repealing the SGR
Senate Bill 1776 to repeal the SGR system was introduced this past. Unfortunately, S.1776 failed. For those who wrote Senator Lugar and Senator Bayh, thank you. Before we get too disheartened about Congress' continued failure to fix te SGR cut, we must continue to press the issue forward. Without a fix, we will face a 20% cut in the physician fee schedule in 2010. If there is another temporary fix, then we will likely face a 25% cut in 2011.
Please write Indiana's Senators, and express your disappointment with the the result and urge their support for a permanent fix.
Volunteer Opportunity with Habitat for Humanity
The Indiana Associates Council has organized a volunteer opportunity with the Habitat for Humanity in Indianapolis. Every 3rd Saturday, Indiana ACP members have an opportunity to volunteer at the Re-Store. This is a store to donate construction materials so that useful materials don't end up in the landfill, and I'll personally testify that there's something for those do-it-yourself individuals.
If you have issues of concern, please contact your local Council member or reply back to this email message. We always welcome any ideas or input. I hope to see many of you at the upcoming Chapter Meeting!!
Respectfully,
Michael Sha
